Professor Esi Sutherland-Addy, the president of the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) in Ghana, encouraged young women to dream and break down barriers.

He
 said this while celebratingthe 20th anniversary of the Diaspora Girls' Senior High School, a school founded by the Ghana Chapter of the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Chairedby Professor Esi Sutherland-Addy, the event was convened by the Deputy Minister of Nature, Children and Social Welfare, Francisca Oteng Mensah, representing the Chief of Staff of the Republic of Ghana as the guest speaker, O B Amoah, Member of Parliament.for Akuapem Sud and Minister Delegate at the Ministry of Local Administration,Decentralization and Rural Development. Girls areencouraged to dream and break down barriers 
Other participants
 included members of the FAWE Ghana Chapter, representatives of the Ghana Education Service national, regional and regional offices, members of CHASS, traditional leaders, parents of students and other distinguished guests.


The commemoration began with the unveiling of the late Mrs. Vida Amaadi Yeboah, founder of the Forum for African Women Educationalists and former organizer and president of the Ghana chapter,in appreciation of her contribution to the establishment of the school.

In a goodwill message from the FAWE Ghana Chapter, writtenby Professor Esi Sutherland-Addy, he acknowledged the traditional leaders and elders of Obodan, where the school is located, for their role in contributing to the vision of creating a shelter for girls. can do well and improve their future learning expectations. He said that this school, over the years, has nurtured and trained a generation of girlswho have become leaders, innovators and talentedprofessionals in various fields.

He expressed his
 gratitude to the staff, past and present, for their commitment to ensure the success of the school and to thestudents and their families for providing us with their scholarships and wholeheartedly support FAWE's vision. He also thanked Ghanaian education officialsfor showing interest in the Diaspora Girls High School and agreeing to enter the school at such a critical time.

He encouraged
 the school and its members to look to the future with enthusiasm and determination as FAWE Ghana strives to create a nurturing environment to empower girlsto strive access to higher education. The colorful festivalsaw a well-organized parade by the students of the school, a cultural show through traditional dances and songs bythe school choir to the praise of the guests.

The FAWE
 Ghana Chapter presented awards to students, traders and leaders of theFAWE Girls' Club who have made themselves available. FAWE Ghana Chapter also gave special recognition toOmankrado Hemmaa of Obodan Nana Aboamah Oforiwah 1 (Emily Odei) for her contribution over the years to the activities of FAWE Ghana Chapter and the establishment of schools in Obodan during her time as a congregation. of the constituency of Obadan.
