Jordan Pickford appeared to have escaped a penalty after letting Erling Haaland drag on with a stray punch, but neither Anthony Taylor nor VAR conceded the penalty

Manchester City fans were furious after no penalty was given to Jordan Pickford's team with Erling Haaland.

They felt they should have had a chance from 12 yards to increase their three-goal lead against Everton when Pickford touched Haaland in the face. The number 1 player in England caused Man City's scoring machine to stay in place after completely misjudging a pass.

But referee Anthony Taylor saw nothing wrong. And a quick VAR check confirmed the decision on the field, with fans taking to social media to express their disappointment. One person asked:

"Pickford hit it, how is that not a pen?"

One second repeat:

"How did the VAR not detect that???? Pickford hit Haaland and nothing was called?" The third argues:

"It was the most severe penalty in the history of the sport."

“Haaland apparently punched him in the face and they said no wtf pens,” said a fourth person angrily, while a fifth commented:

"Pickford just hit Haaland in the head and VAR didn't even mind. It was horrible."

Fortunately for Pep Guardiola's side, that decision, or lack of it, did not affect the outcome in which they won the Premier League title within two wins.

No penalty was imposed despite an appeal from the City

Ilkay Gundogan's superb effort, as he controlled the ball with his thigh before slamming the ball over his shoulder and past Pickford, put them on track after a disappointing first half hour.

Everton defended staunchly but were quickly two goals ahead, when Haaland headed home from Gundogan's precise cross two minutes later. The player then scored the second goal of the game, delivering a free kick into the top corner six minutes into the restart, which proved to be the final goal in a comfortable final game for those lead the league.
