CHELSEA OWNERS ADMIT THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE MADE A MISTAKE BY SACKING THOMAS TUCHEL

The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea bosses have admitted they may have been wrong to sack Thomas Tuchel as manager

The new owners of the club want to start a new era as soon as possible. But now they believe that appointing Graham Potter to replace Tuchel was a mistake. After a 0-1 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League in September, the Blues suddenly sacked Tuchel.

The 49-year-old has led them to the European Championship in 2021 so it was a surprising pick. The German coach was sacked because the Blues were struggling in the Premier League. However, the season was still very early and by the time he was sacked, they were sixth in the league standings.

Potter then took over as coach in place of the outgoing PSG chief executive, but the move was a crushing defeat. Despite adding players like Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez in January, the England manager led them to a string of unsuccessful performances.

After a 0-2 loss to Aston Villa last month that dropped them to the bottom half of the table, the club's management eventually sacked him. Although Frank Lampard was appointed as an interim coach, the team's performance is increasingly declining. In six appearances under Lampard, the Blues have earned just four points. With Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle United as the remaining rivals, Chelsea's problems are bound to get worse.

Erik ten Hag wants to sign the Juventus midfielder when his contract expires this summer

Manchester United have once again been linked with Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

The France international will become a free agent next month when his contract with Juventus expires.

The Serie A giants agreed a fee with United for the France international last summer but negotiations fell through due to Rabiot's wage demands.

Erik ten Hag is the newly appointed coach and he immediately made it clear that he wants to improve United's midfield with additions like Christian Eriksen and Casemiro.

However, it seems Ten Hag is still interested in Rabiot and L'Equipe (H/t Metro) said he has spoken with the French midfielder about a move to Old Trafford. From a financial perspective, it makes sense as it doesn't look like Ten Hag has much to spend this summer - unless the Glazers cede control of the club to Sir Jim Ratcliffe or Sheikh Jassim.

The report says United are currently working to sign Rabiot and he is seen as a "critical target" by the manager.

Only time will tell.
