The UEFA Champions League has long been the world's most prestigious club football competition. The finals this year will be contested by two powerhouses that have won the trophy on several occasions, Liverpool and Real Madrid. The English squad is a little favorite, according to Champions League betting information, and the odds also indicate that it might be a highly efficient clash. With that in mind, let's take a look at the top four countries in terms of UEFA Champions League titles.

*The top four countries in terms of UEFA Champions League titles

four. England

For the most part, the "home of football" was the most successful nation in the UEFA Champions League. However, only three titles between 1999 and 2018 allowed other countries to equalize or surpass England.

Albion has awoken in the last three years, winning two out of three titles, with the opportunity to add another if Liverpool wins this year. To make matters worse, the Reds would win against Real Madrid, effectively barring Spain from improving their record.

3. Italy

The Italians did not have a dominant era, but they did consistently win two or three tournaments over the course of a decade. However, since 2010 and Inter's ascension to the top, this country has failed to provide a winning representative.

Mourinho led Inter to the Treble at the time. Juventus reached the UCL finals twice, losing both times, solidifying its position as the team with the most UCL finals lost - 7.

Italy has 12 European titles, with AC Milan holding a major share of that number, as Rosonerri conquered the continent on seven occasions. Inter Milan has three pieces of silverware, and Juventus has two.

2. Germany

The German clubs won eight titles in 18 finals. Bayern has the most success with six wins, while Borussia Dortmund and Hamburger SV have one title each, back in 1996 and 1983, respectively.

It appears that the problem in this country is a big difference between Bayern and the rest of the teams, which makes the other teams uncompetitive on the international stage. The team from Munich buys all the best players from their rivals and weakens them.

1. Spain

Real Madrid and Barcelona have 18 titles combined, with Los Blancos winning 13 trophies and Barcelona five. The only two other teams that reached the finals of this competition were Atletico Madrid and Valencia, but neither of them managed to lift the trophy.

The Ronaldo-Messi era made the Spanish teams the best in the world, and it allowed this country to jump over other rivals in the number of UCL titles. Up until that period, Spain was behind England, but Real’s four titles in five years have made this country the most successful one.
