The son of National Democratic Congress Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah won the parliamentary election of the party in Tano South Constituency.
Explaining his contributions to the party, he stated that he has held a lot of positions to support the party at the branch level, constituency, regional, and national levels hence he considered this as a glorious opportunity to contest for the MP seat to be able to rescue the people of Tano south constituency from the current impoverish governance from the president and his MP in the constituency.
Charles Akwasi Asiedu polled a total of 698 votes beating his nearest rival Nana Agyeman Prempeh who polled 281 votes. He now represents the party in the 2024 general election in the Etelä-Tano constituency. The other two candidates received a total of 298 votes.
Mr. Asiedu was the NDC Deputy Regional Organizer for Brong Ahafo and just before that was the Ahafo Regional Organizer for the party. She was the National Campaign Coordinator for Dr Hanna Bisiwi's campaign for the position of National Women Organizer in 2018 and 2022 when she was re-elected. Mr. Asiedu is a graduate of the University of Ghana Business School, where he obtained a Masters in Organizational Leadership and Management.
He holds a BA in Communication Studies (PR) from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ). and holds a Certificate in Political Leadership and Party Organization from the NDC Ghana Institute of Social Democracy.
He said: "I am always here with the people and they know me as a vigorous party member who has served them in various capacities."
His goal is to maximize the assets of the NDC in Tano South and act as a development agent that will transform the lives of the region. Interacting with the media, he stated that he felt the contest was necessary because he is known in the party for his hard work and dedicated efforts from the grassroots to the national level.
