Mubarick failed to beat Muntaka in sixth place

Masawudu Mubarick, the only person Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, Member of Parliament for Asawase, in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Assembly did not refrain from criticizing the sixth term of the incumbent.

The former Chief Minority Whip won the race by more than 300 votes in what many thought would be a close race before the election. He got1,064 votes to win the NDC seat in Asawase constituency in 2024 from Masawudu who got734 votes.

It was a fraught election between the two camps that caused a lot of conflict in the polling area ahead of the primaries. Mubarick failed to beat Muntaka in sixth place
Although Masawudu's
supporters argue that it is time for Muntaka to come up with new ideas after serving five years, Muntaka's supporters believe that there is no need to change the winning team.

They emphasized that the wealth of experience accumulated in Parliament during the years of Muntaka can bring them development, especially when the NDC returns to power in 2025. Beingone of the safest seats for the NDC and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), there is a misconception that when a candidate clears the hurdles of the primaries, he has a chance to better to go to parliament.

The stakes are therefore high because the two aspirants did not make any effort in their quest to represent the party inthe coming general elections. Their determination to save victory from the day was evident at the polls as their supporters stopped at every opportunity to show their steadfastness.

Despite the heavy security presence, several clashesbetween opposition supporters were recorded at the same timeas the election took place at the central mosque in Kumasi. Thearrival of these two teams madethe venue a rallying point as their fans cheered them on.

You may be feeling a sense of chaos as
the election approaches as both parties are confidently hoping for a landslide victory. It was the Muntaka side that had the last laugh when they hoisted the Muntaka victory sign from the two polling stations by singing avictory song that angered their opponents.

An elated Muntaka joined the huge crowd in the grand victory celebration after he was announced as the winner of the competition. He called for unity as a family to rescue Ghanaians from the economic crisis the NPP government has put the country through.
