NDC primaries: Edem Agbana confirmed that he won the Ketu North election
The former National Democracy Congress deputy national youth organizerinsisted that he won the party'sparliamentary election in Ketu North.
Speaking on JoyNews's The Probe, Eric Edem Agbana said that despite opposition to his victory, he won with 360 votes in the election held on Saturdaywhile his favorite candidate had 300 and fifty nine. He explained that after the first vote, a second recount was held at the request of his opponents but the vote remained the same.
"After that, my representativesigned the pink paper thatrecorded the 360 ??votes, only for a dispute to be raised about the validity of the vote."
"So they decided to check whether all the ballots were correctly marked. And according to the EC officials after the check, two of the votes registered to me did not have stamps," Mr. Agbana told his host, Happy Sogah.
He said that another test conducted on the serial numbers of these election papers showed that they were correct papers from the election newspaper. "Thismeans that if these documents are not stamped, it is due to the carelessness of the EC official or that the EC official deliberately tried to break the process."
"How can a candidate or a voter be punished for the horrible work done by an EC official? There is a winner in Ketu North and the winner is Edem Agbana.
On Saturday, NDC representatives in Ketu North will choose from among eight candidates to represent them in the 2024 general election. Afterthe first vote was taken, Edem Agbana and his team startedcelebrating to defeat his opponent by one vote.
However, soon after his victory, the question was asked, the opponents are looking for a second round. But, Mr. Agbana said that he will not sit quietly while his victory is ruined.
“How can I get into the game after I win the election? There is a clear winner and the winner is Edem Agbana. I will not allow anyone to steal.
He added that "if there is a connection with the need to repeat the election and it is legitimate, I will gladly submit the same."
"But when everyone can believethat I'm winning, how can you expect me to go through theprocess and say that I'm trying to prove a point that I'm not afraid of?"
Mr. Agbana said that accepting the call for a resumption maymean that as a parliamentary candidate he will not be able to protect the work that the people gave him. So far, theNDC has not addressed the issue publicly.
