Ashaiman Senator Ernest Henry Norgbey has told party loyalists to prepare for the work ahead that will see theNew Patriotic Party (NPP) back in opposition.
He said the NPP will be forced into power in the 2024 elections after it has done a lotsince it came to power in 2017. Although the NPP would like to break the eight-year curse onthe 4th Republic, they believe that it is only through hard work that the NDC can stop this effort.

Ernest Norgbey disclosed this to Joy News while speaking on his victory speech when he waselected to stand on the NDCticket in the 2024 elections. “What awaits us is greater than what we see today. What awaitsus is to fight the common enemy, either Dr Bawumia or Alan Kyerematen at the end of 2024.

He admits that fighting thepower of the current administration will be a Herculean task, but uniting as common soldiers under the umbrella that represents the NDC can do it.

“I want to thank everyone. I thank my competitors for giving me a good run for my money. Although today is a bad day for my competitors, I want to extend my olive branch to getthem on board as we work towards victory in 2024.”

Ernest Norgbey battled withthe county chairman Tony Afenyo, who is seeking to become a politician after failingfour previous attempts.

At the end of the contest, Ernest Norgbey got 1627 votes, Tony Afenyo got 1221 votes and independent lawyer Worwui-Brown got 50 votes.
The program recorded 11 rejected votes, 2898 correct votes and a total of 2909 votes. Ashaiman Electoral Commission Chairman Stephen Reynalds declared Ernest Henry Norgbey the winner of the contest.
In the presidential election, theformer president, John Mahama, won 2,880 votes and his competitor, Kojo Bonsu, had16 votes. 18 votes were rejected, 2896 votes were the total valid votes and 2914 were counted.
Ashaiman area has more than 3 thousand people. Fans of Ernest Norgbey went wild as they dreamed of victory in 2024.
