At The Mirror's Mother's Day Buffet lunch in Accra, the vice president's wife, Samira Bawumia, and the musical group Tagoe Sisters were recognized as Model Mothers 2023.
They received recognition yesterday for leading honorable lives as "mothers and mother figures" in the community.
The goal of the Mirror Model Mother campaign was to give readers a chance to understand the value that moms bring to society.

On Mother's Day, the model mother campaign sought to honor the ideal mother in society by appealing to both domestic and international audiences.
The Oak Plaza Hotel, Woodin, SIC Insurance, Ghandour Cosmetics, SS Wellness, GOIL, Latex Foam, and Blue provided sponsorship for this year's event.
The event was held at the Oak Plaza Hotel in Accra, Ghana, and more than 100 moms attended.
Additionally, there were gifts for moms who attended the event, including insurance, Onga spices, and massage therapy vouchers.
Gospel singer Diana Asamoah and the Tagoe Sisters provided entertainment for the event.
Commendation
Ato Afful, the managing director of GCGL, praised Mrs. Bawumia for her dedication to helping those in need and for her work on social intervention activities in impoverished neighborhoods both inside and outside of Accra.
The Tagoe sisters were hailed as outstanding among their peers by The Mirror's editor, Doreen Hammond, who also said that they have mentored a large number of young people, particularly those in the gospel music sector.

In accepting the award, Mrs. Bawumia expressed her gratitude and said, "I am extremely appreciative to The Mirror for doing such a fantastic family-oriented show for society and the family as a whole. It is a surprise since I came in as a guest. I frequently state, "What you start with matters more than how much you accomplish.
Mothers are everything, so people should be grateful for them and show them their appreciation. They serve as the foundation of our society, she declared.
