Clubs in the Premier League are putting the finishing touches on their plans for a busy summer transfer period. However, some may believe the Championship offers greater value because a number of players there have had successful seasons and may be prepared to move up to the top division. Express Sport selects five players from the second tier that clubs may want to sign.

Amazon Scott

Teenager Alex Scott has already attracted interest from the Premier League and has been dubbed the "Guernsey Grealish" by Bristol City supporters due to comparisons between his dribbling style and that of Manchester City player Jack Grealish.

Even at the age of 19, the talented midfielder is already one of the Robins' finest players. In 42 Championship games, five assists and a goal is a respectable performance.

Scott excels on both sides of the ball and plays aggressively while not in control. If England performs well at the U20 World Cup, a top-flight team might be persuaded to pay his stated £15 million worth.

jack clout

Since failing to make the cut at Tottenham, Clarke has excelled. The winger was acquired by the North Londoners from Leeds in 2019 for £10 million, but he never had the stability to stand a chance due to a string of managers.

Spurs might later regret allowing Clarke to depart for Sunderland for a small portion of what they spent. Even if Sunderland doesn't get promoted, Clarke might return to the Premier League after two stellar seasons in League One and the Championship.

Sarra Ismail

Ismaila Sarr, who has previously been linked to moves to Manchester United and Liverpool, might finally leave Watford this summer. Only one year is left on the forward's Vicarage Road contract.

For the Hornets, Sarr scored 10 goals in just 39 games. That might convince a Premier League team in the middle of the pack to make a low-ball offer on a player Watford, who finished 11th, would otherwise risk losing for nothing in a year.

Vladislav Gyokeres

Viktor Gyokeres might fall into that group. Brighton doesn't often let go of youthful talents too quickly. The forward, who is now at Coventry, has long been one of the top scorers in the second division.

The Swedish international left Brighton in 2021 after failing to make an impact in the Premier League, but he is currently being linked with a comeback. Gyokeres showed he is ready for a shot at the big time by scoring 21 goals and dishing out 10 assists in the Championship last season.

Akua Chuba

Chuba Akpom, who turned 27 this year, is now fulfilling the promise that made him one of the most highly regarded players in Arsenal's academy ten years ago. Despite Akpom never being particularly productive at the senior level, his abilities have been revealed when Michael Carrick joined Middlesbrough.

29 goals were scored by the forward throughout all leagues. He could still contribute to 'Boro's playoff victory.
