Gary Neville surprised Jamie Carragher on Monday Night Football by breaking 11 years of tradition ahead of Liverpool's game against Leicester City.

Neville and Carragher's arch-enemy status has never been questioned during their years as experts on Sky Sports, especially on MNF.

In the past, the pair used to be fierce rivals, but today, they're mixing friendly jokes and strife in the studio and on social media.

The former Manchester United star opened up to the latest round of criticism when he arrived at the Sky studio on Monday.

Entering the set, the 48-year-old shared how he broke the tradition of always wearing a suit and tie on the show. As you can see in the video below, Neville predicted his outfit would be criticized by the Liverpool legend and he was right.

Carra immediately noted that he arrived wearing a vest but wearing a T-shirt underneath and even wearing sneakers instead of smart shoes.

Fans on social media also commented on Neville's fashion choices, "Jamie's face and he told you not to wear a tie," one person laughed.

"You'll be wearing a turtleneck this winter. Pep-inspired," predicted a second. Another enjoyed the joke, adding: 'I love the dynamic between you and Carra.

After Arsenal's title run was over, the fourth replied: "I should have put on a shirt and tie for Arsenal's funeral."

"It was all black at Arsenal's funeral," said another.

Neville has predicted for some time that he does not believe Arsenal will win the Premier League, and he appears to have been vindicated this weekend.

The Gunners' defeat to Brighton, coupled with Manchester City's most recent win, means Mikel Arteta's side are highly unlikely to be crowned champions.

However, despite being proven yes, the former United captain was criticized on Monday for being prejudiced against north Londoners. Not backing down in the face of any opposition, the Sky professional joined the fans of the title challengers, having fun with them.
