Samsung Vrs IPhone : The definitive battle for the throne of telephony
We already know that a few years ago it was Apple who dominated the world of telephony with an iron fist, but the reality is that it currently has to fight a great battle with the entire Android universe and, especially, with Samsung.
Perhaps the Korean is the strongest competitor of the company with the bitten apple. In this article we are going to compare the best Apple phones with those of Samsung. Let's start!
High-end We start by talking about Apple's most premium range, with its latest models, the iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhe 14 Pro.
Now comes Samsung's turn in the high range, in which we highlight the recent S23.
We start with two excellent value for money options if what you want is an iPhone, two models from last year, the 13 and the latest generation of the SE.
Samsung or Apple: Who has the better camera?
The truth is that a few years ago, having an iPhone meant having a camera far superior to that of any Android. However, to this day, the forces have equalized and, in this case, we can affirm that Samsung surpasses Apple in certain aspects.
For this confrontation, it is best to compare the cameras of the best mobiles of each brand. That is why we will focus on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. We must start from the basis that the S23 Ultra has a 200-megapixel main sensor, while the iPhone has a 48-megapixel sensor, although not entirely real.
They are only activated when using RAW mode, in the rest, we will have a 12-megapixel cutout. These differences are noticeable when we zoom in on the photos a lot, since the Samsung is capable of obtaining a higher level of detail. However, and on a personal level, I find Apple photos more attractive, it brings out more realistic colors and has a better dynamic range.
However, this changes when night falls, that's where Samsung puffs out its chest on the iPhone. Now let's go to zoom, Samsung's phone has two sensors dedicated to zoom, which gives incredible results compared to the apple device. As for the selfie, we like the iPhone better, the same thing happens with daytime photography, you get more attractive images. We finish with the video and here we also stay with Apple for the management it does of the lights and, above all, for its high level of stabilization. For its part, the S23 Ultra is not far behind, as we have also loved it in this section. We could say that the Samsung is a 9 in video and the iPhone a 9.5.
Apple A16 Bionic vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
The performance battle pits Apple and Samsung with their A16 Bionic and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processors, respectively. Finally Samsung sets aside Exynos, at least in the European market, to only sell the versions with Qualcomm, which is a giant step in terms of raw power.
On the one hand, the Apple A16 Bionic is the latest Apple processor for its iPhones and is made up of six cores that work at a maximum frequency of 3.46 GHz. On the part of Samsung, its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 bases its architecture on eight cores running at a maximum of 3.36 GHz.
However, let's face them to see who performs better:
As we can see, Apple takes out its chest in performance, clearly surpassing the Qualcomm exponent.
If we talk about graphics performance, the results give away a clear victory for Samsung devices that mount the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. In general terms, the Apple A16 Bionic is superior to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, less in graphics processing, as we have just seen. However, and despite the data obtained, we can ensure that we are dealing with the two best processors in telephony and that there is no probability of having performance problems with any of them.
iPhone or Samsung: Who has the better battery?
Without hesitation, we are facing two brands that boast of having very good autonomy, especially in their higher-end phones. If we have to measure their duration, we must say that Samsung, with its new processor applied to the S23 family, has substantially improved energy efficiency, surpassing Apple. We do not want to focus on amperages, since they are only data, but on load capacities. None is the best on the market, but if we look at the new S23, we will see that they are compatible with fast charging of up to 45W.
For its part, Apple, with its iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro, only have 20W fast charging. In short, if we had to choose a device purely for its autonomy and charging, we would clearly choose one from Samsung, since it outperforms Apple even in phones with good value for money like the ones we have in this article.
One IU or iOS: Which is better operating system?
This is one of the most decisive decisions when purchasing a mobile device. In this case, the differences are abysmal, Samsung works with Google and the Android operating system, while Apple manufactures both its hardware and its software. Both have clear advantages and disadvantages and we are going to tell you about them.
As with other sections, Samsung previously lagged far behind Apple in its operating system with that layer they called "Samsung Experience". Today we have One UI, which turned out to be a success in terms of design, performance, customization, ecosystem with the rest of the brand's devices, and updates.
On the other hand we have the iPhone with iOS, a much more closed operating system, assuming, a priori, greater security. However, the best thing about Apple is the updates. Since they develop the hardware and software themselves, they update all of their devices at the same time, which is a tremendous improvement over most Android brands.
Likewise, we also want to highlight the Apple ecosystem, far superior to that of any other brand. Everything integrates perfectly, it's a pleasure to connect any device and see the animations and information that appear on the iPhone screen, not to mention how simple and effective your much-loved Air Drop is.
Conclusions: What phones are worth it? iPhone or Samsung?
We cannot tip the balance in favor of one device or another, since it will be you, the users, who decide what to buy. However, we can ensure that both brands have extremely quality products.
If we look at the price, Samsung will always win. Despite presenting some phones with exorbitant numbers, they soon go down, something that rarely happens with Apple. If we want a good phone in value for money, the best is Samsung. On the other hand, if we want iOS, any of the alternatives given in this article are excellent smartphones for a few years
