Hold me accountable if I don't fulfill my promise - Mahama
National Democratic Congressflag bearer John Dramani Mahama has accusedGhanaians of holding him accountable if he fails to fulfillhis promises if elected in the 2024 elections.
He expressed confidence that he will be able to fulfill all the promises he made and called on Ghanaians to support him for the presidency. The NDC flag bearer said this while addressing party supporters during his inaugurationceremony in Tamale. Mahama said the next NDC government will restore stability, inclusive growth in the economy and revive the banksand financial institutions that have almost collapsed, adding that it will include the Bank of Ghana. He added that the party prioritizes regional involvement in all sectors of the economy to create jobs.
"Participate in the country inbanking, finance,telecommunications, oil and gas mining, agriculture, manufacturing and construction to create jobs for young people", he said. TheNDC flag bearer also said that the next NDC administrationwill complete the abandoned and ongoing projects scatteredacross the country.
"We will list all the projects forhospitals, schools, electricity, water and roads that are blocked or abandoned, and we will allocate money for theannual budget to do them," he said. Mahama said he will lead a strong and effectivegovernment with no more than 60 ministers and parliamentarians, adding that they will strive to cancel the payment of ex-gratia and reduce waste in government. Another promise he made was to establish a committee to investigate the issue of stolen public land and give advice on how to resolve the Ga-Dangbe land dispute. Mahama, who raised concerns about freedom of speech in the country, said a positive and cooperative environment must be created to enable the media to operatewithout threats, torture and killings.
He said that the NDC representatives have shown the way by electing him with a large number of 99% of the correct votes, showing their belief in his ability to give a leader with honesty, vision and efficiencyand encourage Ghanaiansurged to vote NDC into government in 2024.
