Ningo-Prampram MP Sam Nartey George said the parliamentary and presidential election in Ningo-Prampram constituency on May 13 was very peaceful until former MPEnoch Teye (ET) Mensah of the constituency showed up to vote.
According to him, it was ET Mensah's men who attacked the police, which caused chaos at the polling station. "The election was going on peacefully until ET Mensa arrived; the riots came there after he left because he came with a group of men and they came and started these riots;they are attacked the police,"Sam George told Berla Mundi during the New Day program on TV3 on Tuesday May 16.
There was a series of riots in the Ningo Prampam area of ??theGreater Accra region on May 13. At one point, voting was stopped for the police to meetwith the candidates.
This follows the tussle between the two parliamentary aspirants, the incumbent, Sam Nartey George, and his opponent, Michael Kwetey Tetteh. At one time the riots involved an alleged court order, the other was due to the efforts of some non-representatives.
However, peace was restoredand voting began, after which Sam George emerged as the winner.
