Kyle Walker believes that Manchester City owes Sheikh Mansour, the club's owner, a Champions League victory.

After years of close calls in their bid to win the trophy for the first time, City are once again eyeing it up. It is the premier reward in European club football.

The closest they've come is losing to Chelsea in the championship game two years ago, but Wednesday brings another chance when they visit Real Madrid in the second leg of their semi-final.

After a 1-1 draw in the capital of Spain last week, the match is in a precarious position.

The Champions League has long been regarded as City's "holy grail" despite the fact that they have won the Premier League six times since the sheikh purchased the team in 2008 and are about to win a seventh.

Walker, a right-back, stated: "The club is lacking that one and, (with) the owners and the amount of money they have invested in this club, we owe it to them.We owe it to ourselves to play better than we can in the Champions League final against Chelsea since we are aware that our performance there was subpar.

But before we can go to the Champions League final, we must defeat a formidable foe. Since it's a "final," everything is possible. The first step is defeating Real Madrid; after that, we'll see about the championship game.

In terms of possession, City dominated the first leg at the Bernabeu, but Real were sharp on the counterattack and produced more clear-cut chances.

Walker and the quick Vinicius Junior, who scored the goal for Real, engaged in a challenging duel, and the City defender is looking forward to their next meeting.

After their meeting last week, the two gave one other a respectful embrace, but Walker has claimed that the gesture had a deeper meaning.

"I went to hug him because he tried to rainbow flick me, so it was kind of like, 'Please don't try that again - I don't want to be a meme,'" he added.I do appreciate him to that extent, though, because when fighters engage in a decent bout and end it with a handshake.
