Mahama can no longer be trusted to fulfill his promise -NPP

The Chief Publicity Officer
of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has said thatthe newly elected flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, cannot be trusted. - elected in the elections in 2024.

According to him, Mr Mahama'svictory speech, which wasdelivered after the NDC held the presidential election in Parliament, lacked credibilityand efforts to clean up his performance during his tenure in power. “Whatever the former president said yesterday [Monday] cannot be trusted. No one can hang their hat on it. Because if you measure his past work and what he says, you ask a simple question, why didn't he do these things earlier?Ahiagbah said during a talk on JoyNews'AM show on Tuesday.

On
Monday, May 15, Mr Mahama addressed party members and the nation as a whole, outlining some of hisplans and policies if he wins the 2024 election. Among other things, the former president promised to speed up the investigation into the killing of late journalist Ahmed Suale to ensure that justice was done.

But Mr Ahiagbah says thatbased on the history of previous killings that were not properly corrected under Mahama, he cannot be trusted with thatpromise. “Under him [John Mahama] J. B Dankwa died. Samuel Ennin died under him. Now he is suddenly able to investigate the death of Ahmed Suale. What happened to Ennin? What about J.B.'s death? Danquah? Why isn't it checkedif it's easy to check in a broad stroke? Mr. Ahiagbah asked.

It is not known whether Mr Ahiagbah's statement toSamuel Ennin was referring to the late Ashanti regional president of the Ghana PressAssociation, who was assassinated in 2007 during the administration of President John Agyekum Kufuor. In the meantime.

Mr.
Mahama also promised to restore the licenses of some "unlawful" banks that were revoked by the NPP government. But Mr. Ahiagbah also does not believe that the former president can fulfill the promise.

Speaking on the same show, Special Assistant to PresidentJohn Mahama Joyce Bawah Mogtari advised them to ignorethe NPP campaigner. He said the NPP has only one unendingmission to tarnish Mr Mahama's reputation.

“We live in a government that has failed to fulfill its promisesto the good people of Ghana. He [Richard Ahiagbah is speakingliterally from the left and right side of his mouth, I think all he is thinking is how to make President Mahama look and sound disbelieving, " he said.

Mrs.
Mogtari pointed out that the NDC is the best in governing the country since it has fulfilled many promises made to Ghanaians. “We are really where we are and we have many Ghanaians, young and old, listening and paying close attention, watching and waiting to see what Mr.Mahama will do. -enye tells you one thing; that Mr. Mahama has shown that he is recovering well.

“Mr Mahama has an opportunity to prove that he did not say that everything isperfect under his leadership. But, go back and look up the Perception Perception Index. We were doing better. Go check out freedom of the press. We were doing better. “See the Ghana Integrity Initiative report. We were doing better. Even in terms of media freedom, we are doing better. In terms of perseverance, accountability, leadership and integrity, we are doing better,” he said. Meanwhile, the political media expert, Dr. Tutu Boahene, says the results of the recently concluded NDC primaries show that John Dramani has improved his support base.

“When you look at the stats, it'snot just the percentage, which is 98.9%, but the different regionsand the numbers coming in, he [John Mahama] got a lot of support in some regions. In fact, to get the full number of around2,880 from Ashiaman is very powerful.

“Although
we know that Ashiaman is a strong area for the NDC, that tells you that the delegates went to it. And if the voting process in those areas is anything to go by in terms of representation in the judiciary, then we can expect that to be a straightforward victory perhaps for the NDC in 2024, "he said.
