Mikel Arteta's Arsenal and Eddie Howe's Newcastle United have been linked with Raphinha but Barcelona head coach Xavi does not want the winger to leave in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal, Newcastle United and Chelsea have all been linked with Barcelona winger Raphinha.

Earlier this month, Sport reported that Arsenal are among a number of clubs interested in signing former Leeds United winger Raphinha.

Arsenal sporting director Edu has been in contact with Raphinha's agent Deco for months and is trying to strike a deal, the Spanish newspaper reports.

Sport themselves announced this month that Chelsea and Newcastle are ready to immediately open formal talks with Barca over the transfer of Raphinha, who has been described by Barcelona head coach Xavi as "extraordinary". However, a report in the Brazilian media has now claimed that Xavi is trying to stop Barcelona from selling the Brazilian international winger.

UOL has reported that Barcelona are considering the sale of Raphinha and are looking to open negotiations with interested clubs.

However, Xavi has now stepped in and told his bosses not to sell the 26-year-old, who is highly regarded by former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

Raphinha at Arsenal or Newcastle United in the summer is still possible

Now Xavi is apparently evaluating Raphinha, but we think a summer release is still possible.

Barcelona have publicly stated that they want to re-sign Lionel Messi. Now, for that to happen, Barcelona need to deal with their financial problems, which means selling some of their players.

Arsenal or Newcastle United could take advantage of the situation and could sign Raphinha.

The 26-year-old joined Barcelona from Leeds United in the summer of 2022.

Raphinha has made 22 starts and 10 substitute appearances in La Liga for Barca this season.

The winger has scored 7 goals and provided 7 assists in those games. Barcelona have won La Liga this season.
