After advancing past a somnambulant Bernardo Silva, the Frenchman passed the ball to Vinicius Jr. The Madrid winger took care of the rest, firing a blast past a helpless Ederson to put Los Blancos ahead 1-0.
Camavinga's build-up play made everything possible, even though Vinicius' finish garnered most of the attention. His assist was not particularly left-back-oriented. Camavinga isn't actually a left-back, though. He is a center midfielder by profession. He carries the ball like a true box-to-box No. 8, and he tackles like a tough No. 6. He can occasionally ping passes like a regista. And some of his passing in the last third is comparable to traditional No. 10 passes.
He is playing out of position for this Madrid team as a full-back, but one who is unwilling to do so.
