CAMAVINGA IS APPROACHING TO BE ONE OF THE HIGHEST LEFT BACK IN EUROPE

Eduardo Camavinga accomplished something that very few left-backs are able do in the 35th minute of Real Madrid's Champions League match against Manchester City. He quickly exchanged passes with Luka Modric before sprinting down the line and making a long drive into the Citizens' half. After advancing past a somnambulant Bernardo Silva, the Frenchman passed the ball to Vinicius Jr. The Madrid winger took care of the rest, firing a blast past a helpless Ederson to put Los Blancos ahead 1-0.

Camavinga's build-up play made everything possible, even though Vinicius' finish garnered most of the attention. His assist was not particularly left-back-oriented. Camavinga isn't actually a left-back, though. He is a center midfielder by profession. He carries the ball like a true box-to-box No. 8, and he tackles like a tough No. 6. He can occasionally ping passes like a regista. And some of his passing in the last third is comparable to traditional No. 10 passes.

He is playing out of position for this Madrid team as a full-back, but one who is unwilling to do so. He has steadily improved over the previous three months while filling in for the regular defender and may hold the key to stopping City's potent assault in Wednesday's second leg at the Etihad Stadium.

Following a Man-of-the-Match performance for Rennes against Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, Camavinga attracted the attention of Europe. At the time, he was a scrawny 16-year-old who quite easily controlled a midfield that comprised Marquinhos and Marco Verratti, leading Rennes to an unexpected 2-1 victory over the Parisians.

Watch the videos to observe a toddler perform all the actions that professional football players do. Ingeniously winning free kicks, he evades pressure with ease and pings a pass to the far post for Rennes' second goal. He keeps possession, dribbles forward at the correct times, and at one point eludes PSG's entire midfield before being tackled as he approaches the final third.
