Since leaving Manchester United 15 months ago, former executive Ed Woodward has accepted his first position.
The 51-year-old worked at Old Trafford for 16 years, serving as executive vice-chairman for 11 of those years.
After receiving criticism for the failure of the European Super League from commentators and fans, he left his position in February of last year.
Woodward has recently been appointed as a non-executive director to the board of the educational esports organization EStars.
Despite having a location in Abu Dhabi, UAE, EStars primarily targets the UK market.
The organization runs esports tournaments in the UK and Ireland, offers BTECs in esports, and works on various other student-focused initiatives and projects.
Tim Krul, a goalie for Norwich, has invested in the business since its founding in 2017.
Woodward gave an explanation of why he chose to take the position.
"It is a recipe for success when you combine esports, education, and a dynamic region like the Middle East, where curriculum decisions can be made faster than in Europe," he said.
"Joining the team is an easy decision when you add Mags' [founder Mags Byrne's] exceptional leadership and entrepreneurial energy." I'm thrilled that EStars will offer a course of study for the upcoming generation in the (relatively) young field of esports.
If the Glazers accept a buyout of the club following bids from Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Woodward stands to make almost 1.5 million.
After nine years of managing their commercial affairs, Woodward was seen negatively by fans.
He did keep a small stake in the club, though, which will earn him a seven-figure windfall once the transaction is complete.
The only person other than the Glazer family to hold a 'B' share in the club is Woodward, who was the target of violent fan protests over matters such as transfer negotiations and United's lack of success.
Each 'B' share entitles its owner to 10 votes. They hold 67% of the club's entire share capital. If the club is sold for 4.5 billion, Woodward's 0.05 of a B stake, which is worth 1.5 million, may be worth 1.5 million.
