Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has received a timely boost after Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay and Raphael Varane returned to training ahead of their trip to Bournemouth on Saturday. The Red Devils - along with Newcastle - had to sweat against the top four contenders as Liverpool continued to win after winning seven consecutive Premier League games.
United seemed certain to finish in Champions League place just a few months ago, but the tide has now changed following Liverpool's spectacular sublime form.
The Red Devils are now desperate to win their last two games against Aston Villa and Southampton, which means United are under increasing pressure to pick up at least six points in their last three games. However, Ten Hag is now in a better position to achieve this after three of his first team players returned to training at Carrington.
Rashford recently missed the 2-0 win over Wolves due to a leg injury and it is feared that his season could come to an end following the problem.

However, he is now on his way back to the starting line-up against the Cherries at Vitality Stadium this Saturday when three points are needed.
McTominay has also returned to training after a five-and-a-half week absence due to injury.
The Scotsman was in fine form before facing problems after scoring four goals in two appearances for the national team this past international break. With Marcel Sabitzer's season coming to an end with a knee injury, McTominay will help bolster United's options in midfield.
There is also good news that Varane was brought on to the field as a backup in the recent victory over Wolves.
The Frenchman seems to have returned to the South Coast starting position after returning to the Carrington training ground.
United are hoping top team Aston Villa can lend them a hand when they travel to Anfield on Saturday.
With both games kicking off at 3pm, the stakes in the race for the top four will increase this weekend, although both teams could claim an advantage afterwards with Newcastle due to host Brighton on Sunday. Thursday. However, Jurgen Klopp fears Unai Emery's side have the tools to take points from the Red Devils if they are not at their peak.
"We now have two more games to go," Klopp said after Liverpool beat Leicester 3-0 on Monday.
"Tough games. Aston Villa... my god. They are playing a great second half of the season and are also fighting for Europe, so it will be difficult. "Unai is doing very well at Aston Villa. We have to make sure we are ready."
