Scoring 16 goals in the 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League season makes him the second-highest scorer in a single season in this competition.


Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema are the third-highest scorers in a UEFA Champions League season. Lewandowski scored 15 goals in the 2019/2020 season while Benzema scored 15 goals for Real Madrid in the 2021/2022 season.



Erling Haaland is now the eighth-highest scorer in a single season in the UEFA Champions League. He has scored 12 goals for Manchester City in 9 matches in the UEFA Champions League this season.

Football fans raised eyebrows after UEFA tweeted earlier that the Champions League final would be between Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

UEFA's tweet comes just two hours before Manchester City and Real Madrid kick off their semi-final second leg at the Etihad.
