ICT training benefits 1,000 girls in the Savannah region.

One thousand girls in the Savannah Region have received ICT training from the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization.

The girls, who were chosen from the area's several districts, were taught fundamental ICT skills including coding, e-safety, and creating games, among others.

The ministry's Girls in ICT program, which included the intervention, aims to close the gender gap in ICT across the nation.

100 girls who performed well over the 12-day session received diplomas and computers.

Rahimmah Mohammed from the North East Gonja District, who had the greatest overall performance, received a laptop, a certificate, and GHC 3,000 in addition to other prizes.

Alfreda Frimpong, the second-best female overall from Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, earned a laptop, a certificate, and GH 2,500, while Salu Saratu Alele, the third-best performer from Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, also won a laptop, a certificate, and GH 2000.

Women in ICT

Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Minister of Communication and Digitalization, stated that the project was particularly created to enhance females' engagement in the ICT industry during the concluding ceremony of the training workshop in Damongo.

She pointed out that as the world shifted from a manual to a digital economy, everyone needed to get the skills necessary to adapt to the new way of life.

She advised the recipients to apply the knowledge they had learned to their advantage in order to get ready for the technological era.

According to Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful, comparable training would be provided for females in all of the nation's regions.

The Savannah Regional Minister, Saeed Muhazu Jibril, on his part, praised the ministry for the knowledge that was imparted to the girls and added that it would go a long way towards assisting students in achieving their goals.

"Everything in this world now depends on technology, especially those in education and other fields, which is why the government is launching the digitalization drive," he stated.
