Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has nominated a former Premier League rival for the job as head coach of the United States national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Carragher played against Thierry Henry in the Premier League for years, though the two are now teammates on CBS Sports Champions League coverage.
And ahead of the Inter Milan vs AC Milan second leg, the Liverpool legend suggested the Frenchman should take charge of the USMNT.
"Thierry, he's linked to Arsenal, they haven't made a decision at US Soccer for the coach right now, so come on... there's a vacancy for manager and you've got an Arsenal player that you know quite well, we know him well, friend of the programme," Carragher said of Henry.
"See my phone, it's not ringing," joked the France 98 World Cup winner.
"No! Wait for the call. This man (pointed at Thierry) is waiting for your call," Carragher said.
Henry commented on Folarin Balogun
During the broadcast, the Frenchman also spoke about the decision of Folarin Balogun, an Englishman who decided to switch allegiance to the US national team.
"I think he is very good, because they (USMNT) need a striker," Henry said.
"Now, the important thing for him is to play, I don't know if he will play for Arsenal, but in the England national team he was going to fight with Callum Wilson, [Ivan] Toney, Ollie Watkins, Tammy Abraham, Harry Kane.
"One thing I can say is that he is a great player for the United States, because they were looking for a striker of his level, especially a 'nine'. Now he has to find a good team to play for next year, that's very important too."
Currently, the USMNT trainer is Anthony Hudson, Gregg Berhalter was the previous coach, who was embroiled in a domestic violence scandal after admitting to assaulting his wife in 1991
