The latest accomplishment in Erling Haaland's record-breaking season is his selection as the Premier League Player of the Month for April.

One hour after it became known that he had also been selected as the Football Writers' Association's Footballer of the Year, the news was officially announced on Twitter by the Premier League.

The Norwegian had a great month in April, scoring six goals and setting more records.

In addition to scoring against Fulham and title rivals Arsenal, Haaland also scored twice against Southampton and Leicester.

With his goal against Fulham, he now shares the 34-goal single-season scoring mark for the Premier League with Andy Cole and Alan Shearer.

As a result of scoring in the 3-0 victory over West Ham last week, he now holds the record by himself.

He also became the first player to score 50 goals in all competitions in a season since Tom Waring did it in 1931.

Teammate Kevin De Bruyne, Diogo Jota, Alexander Isak, Ollie Watkins, Callum Wilson, Eberechi Eze, and Dominic Solanke were among the players nominated for the Player of the Month award.

With 51 goals across all competitions, Haaland has had a stellar season. He received 82% of the FWA vote, the largest margin of victory since the Premier League's inception.

Bukayo Saka, an Arsenal winger, came in second, and Martin Odegaard, another member of the team, came in third.

Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City came in fourth, and Marcus Rashford of Manchester United came in fifth. 15 players in all earned votes.

Since center back Ruben Dias in 2020–21, the 22-year-old is the first City player to receive the FWA award, which has been given out since 1948.

Haaland remarked, "Winning the Football Writers' Award in my first season playing English football is an honor.

I strive to do my best every single day, so being recognized in this way means a lot to me.

"I have enjoyed my time at City so far; my teammates are amazing and give me opportunities to score goals," he said.

"I want to thank all of them because without them, I would not have been able to receive this award."
