ANALYSIS: WHY THIS SUMMER, REAL MADRID SHOULD AVOID SIGNING MARCO VERRATTI

Real Madrid will put a lot of emphasis on the central midfield in the upcoming seasons, starting with the summer transfer window.

Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham is wanted by Real Madrid. According to reports, personal terms have been settled; the only remaining issue is a monetary arrangement with the Bundesliga team. That is not anticipated to cause too many issues, though.

Bellingham would join a midfield with both young and experienced players, and he would probably start most games, with Toni Kroos or Luka Modric serving more as a backup. Although their contracts were set to expire this summer, both veterans reportedly agreed to one-year extensions.

At the end of the summer, Dani Ceballos' contract expires as well, and his future seems much less certain. When called upon this season, he has excelled, but with Bellingham set to join and rumors of interest in Gabri Veiga, it is unclear what will happen to Ceballos over the coming weeks.

If Ceballos does depart, Real Madrid may replace Bellingham with another player this summer. Marco Verratti may be the candidate; according to RMC Sport (via Diario AS) and other sources, the Italian midfielder is interested in joining Los Blancos as his future at Paris Saint-Germain grows more uncertain.

Simply put, despite the fact that Verratti appears to desire to move to Real Madrid, he would not be a good addition to the club. He is too old for the club's transfer strategy, which concentrates on bringing in young players to grow in the first squad because he is 30 years old.

Verratti wouldn't be a good fit for Real Madrid even if he were offered at a discount. Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, or Aurelien Tchouameni would take the field before him.

Modric, Kroos, and Ceballos are all just as good—if not better—as squad players, and they are already members of the team. As a result, trying to sign him would not be very wise.

Verratti's interest in signing with Real Madrid has not been officially confirmed, and it would be highly unexpected if news to the contrary arose.

Real Madrid does not need to add Bellingham this summer in addition to strengthening their midfield. Florentino Perez and Carlo Ancelotti should prioritize signing a new right back or backup striker far more if they have money to spend.
