This summer, the team will lose Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, and James Milner.
Jordan Henderson, the captain of Liverpool, is prepared for the challenge that a midfield makeover will present next season and is certain that he and the squad will regain the consistency that would enable them to catch up to Manchester City.
The midfield is the main area that needs to be updated this summer, and since the club confirmed on Wednesday that veteran James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be leaving in addition to striker Roberto Firmino, the upcoming season will include some new faces.
By then, Henderson will be 33 and starting his 13th season at the club, but he is looking forward to any challenge he may encounter due to Liverpool's interest in Argentine World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton.
To be honest, I don't think it's a rebuild. I really believe new players will join the game. The PA news agency quoted Henderson as saying, "A rebuild is changing an entire team, which I don't think we will be doing." Henderson was speaking at an NHS Charities Together event at a school in Crewe.
"I believe that a lot of the team's core members will still be here and in excellent shape to compete and succeed.
However, with players leaving and attempts to strengthen the team, it will need to be refreshed.
Players will undoubtedly join us at some time to give us a lift, shake things up a bit, and ideally position us well for the season's opening game.
In terms of what it individually means for him, he continued, "It's always a struggle, especially at Liverpool. There will always be challenges for positions and to play games.
"Since I joined the club, that has always been the case. I'll be prepared for the task once more come preseason.
