As part of ECG's corporate social responsibility, management of the Krobo District branch of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) worked with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to repair some of the roads in the Somanya township in the Yilo Krobo Municipality in the Eastern Region.
The employees from ECG, GAF, and the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly worked on the roads from Djaba through Akweteman, both in the Somanya township, under the direction of the municipal chief executive (MCE), Eric Tetteh, and the acting Krobo District Manager of ECG, Christopher Apawu.
They repaired the portholes that were causing serious issues for motorists.
Mary Sakyiwa Mensah, the Tema Region ECG's Public Relations Officer (PRO), addressed the media on the organization's behalf following Due to their importance to society as a whole, the work emphasized the necessity for regular road maintenance in order to keep them more motorable, noting that "without good roads, we all suffer the consequences".

She said that the problem that arose between the business and its Krobo clients last year had been settled, and since prepaid meters were fitted for the consumers, there was now a friendly connection between the two parties.
She said that plans were now being developed to service clients who did not get prepaid meters.
She expressed her gratitude to everyone of the participants, including the Energy Minister, the Energy Ministry, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the traditional leaders from Yilo and Manya.

He said, "Today, the same military personnel are helping to fix our road, which is the source of my excitement. During the power crisis in the Krobo area, the citizens saw the military as people who were in to beat and brutalize them."
He praised the ECG for funding the event, which improved the local road and brought color to the municipality's May Day celebration.

In order for the organization to be in business, Mr. Tetteh stated that the electricity that ECG gave to clients wherever they were in Ghana was purchased from energy producers. He thus asked the customers to make sure they paid for the power they used.
However, the MCE begged ECG to lower the price of the additional meters it was providing to the local consumers so they could make the payment.
