'Call me for contempt and let's see' - Sam George dares Tema High Court judge

National Democratic Congress (NDC)
Ningo Prampram MP Samuel Nartey George has asked a Tema High Court judge to ban some representativesfrom participating in the recentparliamentary primaries in the constituency.

According to the deputy director, the judge exceeded his authority by ordering the registration of sixteen representatives in the electoral list for the primaries. In response, Sam George challenged a High Court judge to summon him for contempt.

"Just
before the election on Saturday, they will go back to court, I heard that the judge did not hear the case in open court and called the case in his room, and instructed that he ordered to add these sixteen names. I said, well, I don't know what the judge ate or I don't know what he drank," he said in an interview with TV3 after theelection.

When the presenter pointed out that the decision came from a competent court, the deputy respondent said: "So what... In fact, the judge has no jurisdiction over the matter that is not brought before him, and I will bring a complaint before the judge against thisjudge because it needs to be investigated. for his actions.Because you are being prosecuted for ward election laws, you will go to court and order people to be added to theregister for parliamentary votes. Who led the legislative primaries before you? Who told you that judges can extend their sentences beyond what is before them? So I said if he thinks he has those rights, he should call everybody for contempt, but those people won't vote if they don't vote.

"If
the judge thinks it's good, call me for contempt and let'ssee. I am saying that I will file a complaint against him with the Department of Justice and the Judge to investigate this matter," Sam George added.

On May 13, 2023, Sam George emerged victorious in the NDC parliamentary election for Ningo Prampram, defeating Kwettey Nettey in a heated contest ahead of the 2024 general election. The election, which is watched across the country, was halted mid-termafter Kwettey Nettey submitteda court order seeking to include 16 delegates in the voting process.

Sam George, on the other hand, argued that the party'sFunctional Executive Committee (FEC) had already spoken about this and came outagainst the registration of said representatives in the electoral roll. In the end, the delegates were not allowed to vote and Sam George won with 1,036 votes, while his competitormanaged to get 636 of the total votes.
