In order to provide 422 student leaders with the necessary knowledge and skills to have an influence on others, they underwent a leadership development course.
The children, who attend 27 private schools in Accra's Ablekuma South and West municipalities, were made aware of issues such as the value of leadership and their part in fostering a strong country.
The Foundation for Generational Thinkers (FOGET), a non-governmental organization (NGO) that promotes youth empowerment and life development, held the annual one-day Student Leadership Summit in cooperation with Zone Five of the Ghana National Association of Private Students (GNAPS).
Equip
It was created to provide young people with the tools they need to lead future generations.
The "Leave a Footprint" concept of the leadership training is intended to develop and equip participants, especially among students, to successfully persuade their classmates to bring about the change they desire.
The initiative was hailed as a great success by FOGET President Prosper Dan Afeti, who also noted that the program's "overall objective was to equip students to be better leaders in their various schools and to positively impact their world."
"In my opinion, developing and identifying a leader's talents requires intentionality since leadership does not just happen.
For them to be well-prepared for varied leadership responsibilities wherever they find themselves, it is crucial to start preparing them at a young age, he added.
Michael Ohene-Effah, co-founder of Lead Afrique International, an NGO, helped the pupils comprehend the idea of leadership and the characteristics of effective leaders.
A capable leader and the requirement for leadership development
Virtue: He said that the group placed a strong emphasis on virtue as well as other facets of the students' lives.
Some of the kids thanked the program's organizers in separate statements, saying it had done a lot to expose them to topics they didn't know about.
They said that many of them had benefited from the program since it had helped to dispel many of their fears.
The children took turns speaking into the microphone and vowed to demonstrate various leadership traits, including being unselfish, kind, loving, confident, creative, and communicating well.
For pupils in their last year of junior high school (JHS), FOGET has held career counseling programs both inside and outside of Accra over the years.
The activity is a component of the company's CSR program to help the pupils become ready for senior high school and post-secondary education.
