Arsenal have been linked with a move for young German player Noah Darvich - but who is he exactly?

According to CaughtOffside, the Gunners are one of many European giants pursuing the signing of the young midfielder. However, they face stiff competition from Bayern Munich and PSG.

And another unnamed Premier League club is also running for Darvich, who plays for his Bundesliga side SC Freiburg.

Arsenal have successfully scoured the English domestic market for young talent in recent years and brought in 17-year-old left-back Lino Sousa from West Brom last year. Advertisement

He trained with the first team last week before the Premier League game against Brighton, although he missed a spot on the bench despite Oleksandr Zinchenko's absence.

If signed by Arsenal, Darvich could be the next miracle kid to make his presence felt in the first team. Let's take a look at midfield in more detail.

The 16-year-old Darvich currently plays for Freiburg U17s, where he has scored five goals and provided three assists in eight appearances (via Transfermarkt). Primarily an attacking midfielder, the young German is also capable of playing in a deeper position and on the right flank.

Darvich, originally from Iraq, has played for Germany Under-17s at the ongoing European Championship and scored in a 4-0 win over Portugal earlier this week.

CaughtOffside says the left-footed player possesses "incredible technical quality" and "will fit perfectly into most flexible tactical plans" - and is therefore considered an ideal choice for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal to strengthen their young ranks.

But the Gunners will have to wait until the midfielder turns 18, in September 2024, to formally agree a deal due to Brexit law banning British clubs from signing players under that age. . With a birth date of September 2006, he was born after Germany hosted the World Cup in the same year.
