Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta and Unai Emery have all been nominated for Premier League manager of the year. The Spanish contingent makes up half of the shortlist for the award.

Manchester City head coach Guardiola is on his way to securing his fifth Premier League title in six years after overcoming the eight-point deficit worked up by Mikel Arteta's Arsenal. The latter, however, deserves massive credit for making Arsenal competitive again, making a title charge for the first time in years.

Fellow Basque and former Arsenal boss Emery, meanwhile, is on the list in recognition for the way he has turned Aston Villa around, taking them from struggling to fighting for Europe. The Villans have 57 points, just eight behind fifth-placed Liverpool.

Also on the shortlist for the Premier League manager of the year accolade are Brighton's Roberto De Zerbi, Newcastle United's Eddie Howe and Fulham's Marco Silva.

De Zerbi has earned many plaudits for the style he has brought to the Sussex side since replacing Graham Potter and is giving the Seagulls one of their best seasons ever. On Thursday night his side will play against Howe's Newcastle, who are hoping to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years.

Marco Silva, meanwhile, has newly-promoted Fulham not just safely above the drop zone but in the top half. The Portuguese coach's side have been one of the surprises of the season.
