At St James' Park, Callum Wilson and Bruno Guimaraes scored late goals to secure a 4-1 victory.

With a convincing victory over Brighton, Callum Wilson and Bruno Guimaraes provided a spectacular finish to push Newcastle close to qualifying for the Champions League.

Wilson scored his 18th goal of the season and then set up Guimaraes to seal a 4-1 victory at the very end in front of a delirious crowd of 52,122 at St James' Park after Deniz Undav had brought the Seagulls back into the game after his own goal and Dan Burn's towering header had given the Magpies a 2-0 halftime lead.

Due to their superior goal differential, Eddie Howe's team will finish in the top four even if Liverpool loses to Aston Villa on Saturday. However, they can still finish the job if they defeat struggling Leicester on Monday night in Newcastle.

Due in part to the absence of Levi Colwill, Alexis Mac Allister, Julio Enciso, and Evan Ferguson from the starting lineup, but mostly as a result of the constant pressure applied by their opponents, this Brighton was not the one that effectively ended Arsenal's title challenge on Sunday.

As the Magpies settled into their rhythm, Joe Willock had his early cross hacked away to Miguel Almiron, whose shot was blocked at the source. In the ninth minute, Fabian Schar fired a free kick straight at the appreciative Jason Steele.

Following an Almiron pull-back, Willock shot just wide, and after the former Arsenal midfielder had returned the favor, the Paraguayan international narrowly missed the goal from a close angle.

The Seagulls struggled to play their way out of their own half early on because of the intensity of the Magpies, much to the annoyance of manager Roberto De Zerbi. However, goalkeeper Nick Pope was put to the test for the first time by Danny Welbeck's shot in the 16th minute after Kaoru Mitoma had picked him out.
