The chances of AC Milan and Chelsea reaching an agreement to acquire midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek are growing.
In April, 90min reported that the Rossoneri had expressed interest in Loftus-Cheek, with former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori giving the 27-year-old a high recommendation.
Since then, negotiations between Chelsea and Milan have proceeded, and sources have told 90min that enough has been accomplished for the Serie A powerhouses to feel confident about finalizing a deal for Loftus-Cheek.
Due to Chelsea's new policy of trying to avoid players entering the last two years of their contracts, Loftus-Cheek, who is reaching the end of his contract at Stamford Bridge, is one of a number of players on whom decisions will be made this summer.
The Blues are conscious of the necessity of offloading players as quickly as possible, and 90min is informed that negotiations with Milan regarding Loftus-Cheek are nearly at a successful conclusion.
Chelsea is eager to approve Loftus-Cheek's permanent exit, as his transfer will benefit Financial Fair Play even more because he is an academy graduate.
It is believed that a permanent move will occur in the upcoming weeks, although at this time, a loan agreement that requires Milan to make Loftus-Cheek a permanent signing in the summer has not yet been ruled out. The midfielder's contract does have a one-year extension clause that Chelsea might exercise.
Milan are renowned admirers of Callum Hudson-Odoi, Kalidou Koulibaly, Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, and Milan, but their current attention is on Loftus-Cheek.
Crystal Palace, Fulham, Leicester, Newcastle, West Ham, and Wolves have all shown interest in Loftus-Cheek in the Premier League, but the English midfielder is thought to be intrigued by the prospect of collaborating with Tomori in Italy.
