Many SHS graduates want to apply to advanced nursing or midwifery programs but want to know the salary structure first. Like other public jobs in Ghana, such as teaching and policing, nurses and midwives are paid according to rank or experience. Senior nurses earn higher salaries than newly hired nurses. Also, not all newly hired nurses are paid the same. Because some have degrees and some have degrees with certificates.
In today's article, we will look at the salaries of nurses and midwives in Ghana in 2023.
The salary below is the average salary for newly employed nurses.
Certificate nurses – GHS 1,300 monthly.
Diploma nurses – GHS 1,600 to GHS
1,800.00 monthly.
Degree holders – GHS 2,000to GHS
2,200 per month.
However, wages in the private sector
Don't get attached to a particular structure.
The above salaries cannot exceed the monthly income of nurses and midwives. But they also receive monthly and annual benefits from the government.
For a registered nurse salary in Ghana, the salary depends on your level of education whether you have a certificate, diploma or degree. Generally, registered nurses in Ghana earn between GHS 21,000 and GHS 28,800 per year. However, this is only an after-tax deduction. Generally, the salaries of nurses in Ghana should be enough to cover their monthly living expenses, but the high cost of living and utility bills have forced many nurses to take up side jobs.
