The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has seen building activities associated with the Agenda 111 Hospital project in the Upper East Region's Bolgatanga East region.
Eight hospital projects that are being built in the districts of Garu, Tempane, Pusiga, Binduri, and Kassena Nankana West will benefit the area.
The remaining three are Builsa South, Bolgatanga East, and Nabdam.
He was joined by the district's chief executive, David Akolgo Amoah, the regional minister, Stephen Yakubu, and other dignitaries.
Rationale
Dr. Bawumia stated in an interview following the inspection on Wednesday that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo developed the Agenda 111 hospital project to ensure that no area had a hospital to offer the public high-quality healthcare.
As part of the project, he stated, "currently, there is work going on at all the project sites across the country to construct state-of-the-art hospitals for Ghanaians." He also mentioned that new regional hospitals would be built in each of the six new regions, as well as psychiatric hospitals for the middle, coastal, and northern zones.
Dr. Bawumia stated, "We are here to observe the development of the work that, when finished, will offer world-class healthcare to thousands of individuals living in the district.
happy with work
The Vice President said, "I must admit that I am extremely happy with the progress of the work done so far, since all the structures that make up the hospital project are presently in the roofing phase.
He said that in order to expedite the project's completion, representatives of the firm carrying out the work gave him their assurance that the roofing would be completed in the coming months.
When he returned to Accra, Vice President Bawumia remarked, "I am extremely delighted to report to the President that the project is very much on course.
He said, "I have been to a number of the hospital project sites, but this is the one that is progressing fast." He praised the contractor for the superb job done thus far on the project.
As a result, I must commend the contractor and other project employees for their hard work, emphasizing that "I am convinced that by my next visit, the project will be nearing completion."
The initiative will be formally inaugurated later this year or early next year, according to the government's plan, Dr. Bawumia said.
Background
The Agenda 111 initiative was introduced by President Akufo-Addo on August 17, 2021.
Six regional hospitals and 101 district hospitals will be built as part of the project in the newly established areas.
A regional hospital in the Western Region, two mental hospitals in Kumasi and Tamale, and a renovated Accra mental hospital are all part of the plan.
The hospital will provide maternity, obstetrics, and gynecology operating rooms, as well as male, female, and pediatric wards, among other amenities.
The goal of the initiative is to guarantee that all Ghanaians, regardless of where they live, have access to high-quality medical care.
