Zinedine Zidane might be back. The French coach is once again being strongly tipped to return to the dugout two years after his departure from Real Madrid. His track record as a coach of the Spanish side puts him in the privileged position where major teams are looking to him as one of the few coaches with multiple league titles on their CV.
The French coach's name has been mentioned recently as a possible replacement for Carlo Ancelotti, although there is no sign that the Italian's time in the Real Madrid dugout is coming to an end. These are rumors that have always appeared after some of the difficult moments experienced by Real Madrid during the season, such as the 4-2 defeat to Girona.
The relationship between Florentino Perez and Carlo Ancelotti, as we have said on previous occasions, is better than in the other three seasons in which the Italian has coached Los Merengues.
Ancelotti is closer with the president than ever before. In addition, each and every one of the decisions for next season are being discussed with the former AC Milan coach, who is happier than ever in Madrid. Brazil's FA continue to court the veteran, using his former player, Kaka, as a point of contact, but the Italian coach insists he will not depart.
"I will only leave here if I am sacked," he declared.
Allegri and Juve, in the firing line
In recent days the former Juventus midfielder was also linked with the Bianconeri as an alternative to Massimiliano Allegri. Right now, they are a team and coach having a dismal season. The Italian team is a possible destination as it is one of the familiar situations that the Frenchman is looking for.
In these two seasons away from the bench, Zidane has made it clear that he is not going to grovel for a comeback and that money is not his priority right now, as he demonstrated by rejecting the call from Saudi Arabian football.
PSG have been the other possible destination, a door that is once again open in the face of the many sporting and social issues generated by Christophe Galtier.
Once again, the shadow of the former Real Madrid player appears as a possible target in Paris, although it's worth immediately reminding some of his origins in Marseille and the incompatibilities. Marseille, by the way, would be another possible place for him to return to coaching, with Croatian Igor Tudor currently on the bench.
The truth is that Zinedine Zidane is on the market and the Frenchman knows that Real Madrid will not be his destination. Despite having a very settled life in the Spanish capital, he knows that the bench of Los Blancos has an incumbent in Ancelotti.
The club have not thought about him for the simple reason of trust in Ancelotti and his work. There has been no movement around the figure of the Frenchman, nor has Zidane approached them other than to recover a relationship that was put on hold for 16 months.
