A new discovery may have found the oldest and most complete mummy ever in Egypt, dating back 4,300 years. However, within that discovery the tomb of a priest believed to be called.... Messi!

An expedition led by Egyptian archaeologists together with the Supreme Council of Antiquities to Gisr el-Mudir (one of the oldest known stone structures in Egypt, located in Saqqara) made an unprecedented series of discoveries, dating back to the 5th and 6th Dynasty of the Old Kingdom.

It is therefore a discovery linked to the World Cup winner with Argentina and the 'relationship' has understandably made an impression.

But why Messi? His name appeared in the same area where archaeologists found the tomb of a priest containing nine statues.

Egyptologist Zahi Hawass explained on InstagramThe owner of this tomb may be a person called Messi, according to a trapdoor that was found near the statues," he wrote.

Indeed, the meaning of Messi: "newborn" in ancient Egyptian is striking.

"From this we can conclude that the statues belong to the one who was called Messi."

The expedition uncovered several artefacts and many tombs, including the oldest mummy discovered to date, the discovery related to the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner garnered much of the attention..But why Messi?
