Dwight Yorke thinks Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial should leave Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United hero Dwight Yorke thinks Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho should look elsewhere after feeling they failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford.
Martial has been at United since 2015 when he left Monaco. The Frenchman made nearly 300 appearances and scored 87 goals.
The 27-year-old has also won numerous trophies at United, including the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Europa League. However, his time on the pitch and his impact at United have fluctuated over the past eight years, as has his disappointing loan spell at Sevilla in the second half of last season.
Sancho has yet to reach the heights he has come to expect since his move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021. He has scored 11 goals in 75 games so far in his career at Old Trafford.
And Yorke, who won the treble with United during his four-year spell at Old Trafford, believes the pair have not had the same impact on the team as youngster Alejandro Garnacho. He thinks they should look elsewhere. Speaking to Lord Ping, Yorke said:
"You have five players to replace, but players like Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial come on, I don't see the fire in their stomachs when they come on off the bench. I could be a different person, but impression I understand that if something happens, the substitutes that come in will say "yeah, that's great", but they don't come in a vengeful spirit to get a result for the team.
"I like when Alejandro Garnacho comes on off the bench because he brings energy to the team, he's hungry when he comes in. Other players come in wanting to be smart and have the ball at their feet, while they should be stretching. other team and try to get behind.
"Martial has been here for seven years, he's in good form and shows a lot of promise. But you can't lend at 26 or 27, that's for people 21 and under.
"Once Martial is on loan, it means his time at the club is over, just like when Jesse Lingard was on loan. When you're on loan and come back, you're not coming back. same, not so." at this age.
"Sancho finds it very difficult to live up to the standards set for him, the British media have built him into a much better player than him. Sancho lacks speed and confidence in his abilities. his, he needs to be a little more direct. "There's a big investment and Manchester United need great performances from these two players, but if you can't play you have to try your luck elsewhere."
