Ghana's Parliamentary Service has honored fourteen staff members who are retired for their extraordinary dedication and contributions to the legislative processes. This was held in a ceremony at the Parliament House in Accra.
At the ceremony, the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Alban Bagbin commended the honored retirees for their sacrifices that they have made and work ethics and pledged his unwavering support for the initiative, that is in its third year which is aimed at recognising and honoring distinguished retired officers who have made extraordinary contributions in the Parliamentary Service in Ghana.
The Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Alban Bagbin further encouraged staff members to continue improve their knowledge and their expertise by engaging in workshops actively, and participating in different programmes that is aimed at building their capacity.
The Honorable Speaker once again emphasised on the benefits of continuous learning and development in order to ensure growth alongside with effectiveness within the Parliamentary Service in Ghana.
The Speaker of Parliament, encouraged the retirees to document their various experiences so as to serve as a valuable manual in order to give guidance and inspire current staff by fostering an excellence culture as well as continuity within the service. This was as a result of recognising the retirees as valuable repositories of diverse institutional knowledge and experience.
Hon. Speaker, Alban Bagbin also called on the exiting staff members to embrace their roles as mentors by giving out guidance and the necessary support to their next heirs in office. He said, 'By sharing your wisdom and expertise, you will help out in upholding the principles of the service by ensuring seamless transition for future generations of the staff in the Parliament'.
Moreover, the Speaker of Parliament again urged the exiting staff members to hold on to the core values of honesty, integrity and hard work which gives support the Parliamentary Service in Ghana.
The exiting staff members were given certificates for their service, honors of citation and prizes as a form of tokens of appreciation for their enormous contributions to the Parliamentary Service.
