Barcelona agrees a lucrative sleeve sponsorship deal with Philips for 3 + 2 years

According to a report by Fernando Polo from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has successfully secured a new sleeve sponsorship deal with the Dutch multinational conglomerate, Philips. The agreement is said to be for an initial three-year period, with an option to extend for an additional two years. Barcelona has been actively seeking a new sponsor since their previous agreement with Beko expired in 2021, and after considering several potential sponsors, Philips emerged as a viable option earlier this year.

After months of negotiations, Barcelona and Philips have finally reached a mutually beneficial agreement. The partnership is set to commence from the upcoming season and will see Philips' logo featured on the sleeves of Barcelona's jerseys. The nature of the agreement, lasting for three years with an option to extend, is reportedly influenced by the potential change in the club's leadership in 2026 when president Joan Laporta's term concludes.

As for the financial details, Barcelona stands to earn €8 million in the first year of the contract, which will increase to €10 million in the second year and €12 million in the third year. If both parties agree to activate the option for the additional two years, Barcelona will earn €12 million in the fourth year and €14 million in the fifth year of the agreement. The financial benefits from this partnership will aid Barcelona in their ongoing efforts to address their Financial Fair Play concerns.

The negotiations leading to this agreement were facilitated by Barcelona's marketing vice-president, Juli Guiu, and brand director, Sergi Ricart. It is reported that Philips expressed a strong desire to collaborate with Barcelona, and in addition to becoming the sleeve sponsor, they will also provide all the television sets for the new Spotify Camp Nou once the renovations are completed. This additional collaboration is internally valued at approximately €4 million.

The partnership with Philips represents a significant step forward for Barcelona in their quest to generate new revenue streams. By securing a lucrative sleeve sponsorship deal and engaging in further collaboration, Barcelona aims to bolster their financial position while also strengthening their brand presence. This development will be welcomed by the club and its supporters as they navigate the challenges of complying with Financial Fair Play regulations.
