Senegal U-17 beat Morocco to win AFCON
Senegal's U-17 team, known as the Teranga Cubs, won their first U-17 Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-1 win over Morocco in the final at the Nelson Mandela Stadium. Friday in Algiers.
Morocco took the lead in the 14th minute thanks to captain Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal'sheader from the corner. The score remained 1-0 in favor of Morocco until the 79th minute when Serigne Falou Diouf of Senegal converted a penalty awarded with the help of VAR.
Just four minutes later, Mamadou Sawane rose above the defense and headed in the winning goal, completing Senegal's remarkable comeback. The win was Senegal's third continental win in four months, following their win at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) and CAN U-20 earlier this year.
Both teams played in their first AFCON U17 finals and proved to be strong and fighting to get into the game. However, it was Senegal who eventually won.
