Nomcebo Zikode Plans Go To Court If Open Mic Fails To Pay Her Royalties



Nomcebo Zikode, a Grammy Award-winning musician, has refuted rumors that her legal dispute with record company Open Mic is settled, claiming that it is far from done the singer claimed in July 2021 that she had not received royalties for her popular song Jerusalema or her project Xola Moya Wam and that she would try to recover what is rightfully hers.

As she supposedly still hadn't gotten the incentives she was entitled to, her management on Thursday rejected allegations that she had ended her protracted conflict with the business.

It stated that a court judgment requiring Open Mic and Nomcebo to sign a joint venture agreement was secured in late 2022. But up to this point, the corporation hasn't kept its half of the agreement.

, CEO of IMG Africa, stated that should the label not make things right in the upcoming weeks, they would be willing to file a lawsuit.

“Nomcebo is awaiting finalisation of this matter so she can continue her recording plans to put out new music to further her career as a recording artist,” he said.

“We are unhappy with Open Mic's delay as we had jointly undertaken to adhere to clearly stipulated timelines on submission of all required information, which remains outstanding, thus prolonging the matter. Should this not be resolved in the coming weeks we are certain we'll go back to court.”
