Anthony Martial plunged into the tunnel after being substituted against Bournemouth on Saturday, angering fans online.
Martial made his best start at Vitality Stadium but failed to make a big impression before being coached by Erik ten Hag.
He was substituted in the 57th minute as Weghorst came on to the chagrin of the Frenchman, who appeared baffled as he stepped off the pitch.
According to the report, Martial appeared to be unhappy with Ten Hag's decision and went straight into the tunnel.

His reaction was not warmly received by some United fans when they expressed their feelings on social media. One Twitter user wrote:
"It's disrespectful, I didn't even have a good game to be sad about being substituted."
The second argument argues:
"Must be thinking why me, I look decent, he took Weghorst. ETH is weird, unless martial is damaged."

Another commented:
"Make it go this summer!!"

Manchester United may focus on their game against Bournemouth this weekend but thoughts have turned to the summer transfer window as the takeover draws to a close
Manchester United are focused on a strong end to the season, with three Premier League games and the FA Cup final coming up.
Erik ten Hag is desperate to stay in the top four under pressure from a resurgent Liverpool, who have won seven games in a row. The 2-0 win over Wolves last weekend was much needed after a disappointing 0-1 loss to West Ham.
Attention now turns to Bournemouth on Saturday before the Premier League season ends with games against Chelsea and Fulham next week. There are other considerations, however, with the summer transfer window fast approaching and the takeover saga continuing to rumble. Here is the latest news from the club.
Increased injury
Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay were back in training before the season even started, giving Ten Hag a huge boost.
Rashford missed Wolves' win by a minor issue but is expected to feature against Bournemouth on Saturday. McTominay has been sidelined since the 2-0 win over Everton on April 8 and it could take longer to return to action.
Raphael Varane was substituted against Wolves but it was just a precaution. Marcel Sabitzer is out of action until the end of the season.
Why didn't Napoli leave?
According to his agent, Kim Min-jae has been closely linked with Manchester United but the Napoli centre-back is yet to think about a move to Old Trafford.
"The move to Manchester United is not true," the Napoli defender's agent told Star News. “Currently, Kim Min-jae is focusing on the end of the season.
“In the case of the English Premier League, Champions League spots or final rankings have not been decided yet. No need to move."
Details of the offer of Sheikh Jassim
Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani
Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani has made a fourth offer for Manchester United
Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani on Tuesday submitted a final offer of £5.5 billion to buy back Manchester United.
The mysterious Qatari banker rolled one last dice as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team moved closer to winning the Glazers' backing.
Sheikh Jassim is offering to buy a 100% stake in the club, unlike Ratcliffe, who wants around 51% and will allow Joel and Avram Glazer to keep about 20% of their shares.
