CARLO ANCELOTTI ANALYSES REAL MADRID’S SEASON FOLLOWING CHAMPIONS LEAGUE EXIT

Following their Champions League exit on Wednesday, Real Madrid’s season is all but over with four matches still to be played. Barcelona have already wrapped up the LaLiga title, meaning that second place is the best that Los Blancos can hope for.

Despite this, Carlo Ancelotti, speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s trip to Valencia, wants to end the season on a high, starting with the match against Los Che.

"We have a chance to do things right. The goal is to finish the season well, starting against Valencia. We know we have a team that’s fighting with all the energy they have, and I think we’re going to do that (in the final four matches)."

Ancelotti also took the opportunity to evaluate Real Madrid’s season as a whole. Despite disappointments in LaLiga and the Champions League, they were still able to come away with three titles, including the Copa del Rey for the first time in nine years.

"It’s been a good season. Of course, it could have been better. What we have not done well is a step to doing well next year. We are not satisfied with LaLiga, but for the rest, we have fought until the end, and we’ve won three trophies."

Ancelotti will certainly hope to still be in the Real Madrid dugout next season, and all signs point to that being the case, and he will hope to bounce back from the disappointment of LaLiga and the Champions League.

Kane's five options if he stays at Spurs with time running out after the latest hint

Harry Kane could well be staying at Tottenham for another year, following the latest hint about his future. The England captain will be out of contract in 2024 and will arguably have more options to choose from as a free agent.

Kane has been on fire this season for a Spurs side that could miss out on European qualification altogether. Manchester United are keen on signing him this summer, but last week he hinted he was prepared to stay in north London.

Kane said, "I always think you're never too far away from being competitive with the right people. We need to try to build that relationship back up and try to all push in the same direction."

If he doesn't sign a new deal, he could end up leaving Tottenham for nothing in 12 months' time. Express Sport looks at the five options that could be at his disposal.

United want to sign a forward this summer and will do so even if they cannot get their hands on Kane. But they would unlikely pass up the opportunity to sign him for free next year.

The Red Devils often had up to four top-quality strikers at a time in their glory years under Sir Alex Ferguson. Erik ten Hag is a big fan of Kane, and he would still guarantee goals at the age of 31.

Tottenham would never sell Kane to Chelsea. However, they would have no power over a move to Stamford Bridge if his contract expires.

A reunion with Mauricio Pochettino could be attractive to the forward. However, that would rely on the Argentine seeing out his first season at Chelsea.

Karim Benzema looks set to stay at Real for another season. However, he turns 36 in December and cannot be relied upon as the main center-forward forever for Los Angeles.

Kane has long been linked with a move to the Bernabeu. A free transfer would definitely appeal to the La Liga giants.

Bayern are yet to replace Robert Lewandowski following his move to Barcelona last summer. Like United, they are likely to recruit up top this summer.

Lothar Matthaus recently said Kane would be too expensive for Bayern. However, that issue would be made a lot easier if there was no fee involved.

There are rumors that PSG are keen on signing Kane this summer. Lionel Messi looks set to leave, while Neymar could also be on his way.

That would leave two huge gaps to fill in the attack. If Kylian Mbappe does finally leave for Real Madrid in 2024, Kane could be one of the players brought in to replace him.
