To increase access to justice in the Greater Accra Region, the Chief Justice, Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah, has opened two new courts.
They are a complex holding a High Court, a Circuit Court, and a District Court at Gbese in the Accra Metropolitan Area and Kpone Katamanso Municipality, respectively.
All of the courts are part of a government initiative to build 120 courts and 150 bungalows for the judiciary across the nation in order to address the infrastructure gap in the system and bring justice to the people's doorsteps. The project was funded by the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).
The Gbetsile Traditional Council donated the land for the Gbetsile court building, and the Gbese Mantse and Nii Ayi-Bonte II, adonten of the Ga State, donated the land for the court at Gbese on behalf of the stool.
As a result of the opening of the court in Gbese, cases formerly handled in the Adjabeng District Court in Accra Central will now be transferred there to make room for restoration work.
Courtyard Gbetsile
Cases pertaining to the Kpone Katamanso Municipality and neighboring settlements will be handled by the court complex in Gbetsile, which has a High Court and a Circuit Court.
In the past, to get justice, individuals had to travel a great distance to Tema and Ashaiman.
The Gbetsile Traditional Council and the Kpone Katamanso Municipal Assembly were thanked by Justice Anin Yeboah for their assistance in overcoming the difficulties with access to justice in the city or town.
He said that having a courthouse nearby would not only ensure that people had access to justice but would also draw companies to the municipality since they would have convenient access to the courts to settle conflicts.
The Judicial Service personnel who would be manning the court were exhorted by Justice Anin Yeboah to carry out their duties with the utmost professionalism.
Henry Quartey, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, urged the traditional leaders and the general people to use the courts and refrain from arbitrating disputes that should be properly decided by a court with appropriate authority.
Additionally, he requested the judicial branch work with the local assembly to enforce cleanliness regulations strictly in order to assist "Operation.

Court Gbese
Justice Anin Yeboah lamented the lack of land in Accra for the building of the courts at Gbese.
Therefore, he expressed his gratitude to Nii Ayi-Bonte II for donating the project's land.
He stated that the judiciary was dedicated to creating a justice system that provided litigants with the assurance of effectiveness and prompt justice delivery.
The Chief Justice was thanked for leading the initiatives, and Nii Ayi-Bonte II assured that the Gbese stool would offer land for administrative buildings, including police stations, courts, and hospitals.
Elizabeth K. Sackey, the Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, said using violence as a form of conflict resolution is never a good idea.
