Chelsea without seven players for Man City trip as Frank Lampard confirms injury news

Frank Lampard, the interim head coach of Chelsea, has provided an injury update ahead of their upcoming match against Manchester City. Lampard revealed that seven Chelsea players will be ruled out of the game due to various injuries. The latest addition to the injury list is Benoit Badiashile, who suffered a groin problem during training earlier in the week.

Badiashile, a French defender, has been in excellent form for Chelsea in their recent matches, notably scoring his first goal for the club against Bournemouth. However, Lampard confirmed that Badiashile will not be available for the trip to Manchester, joining six other teammates on the sidelines.

When asked about the team's injury situation, Lampard informed reporters that Mason Mount, Reece James, Ben Chilwell, N'Golo Kante, and Marc Cucurella are not fit to play. Additionally, Kalidou Koulibaly, who has been recovering from an injury, has been training but is not ready for a game of this magnitude. However, Lampard acknowledged that Koulibaly's progress is ahead of schedule. Furthermore, it was mentioned that Mateo Kovacic, who suffered a muscular injury during Chelsea's draw with Nottingham Forest, was not addressed by the interim head coach, leaving his availability uncertain.

Chelsea faces an immensely challenging task as they prepare to visit Manchester City, a team vying for an unprecedented treble. Manchester City recently secured a comfortable victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final, securing their place in the final of the prestigious European competition. Additionally, they are contenders for the FA Cup and are on the brink of clinching their third consecutive Premier League title.

The absence of several key players due to injuries further complicates Chelsea's situation. Lampard and his coaching staff are currently assessing Badiashile's groin injury to determine the extent and duration of his absence. Despite the setbacks, Chelsea will need to regroup and devise a strategy to face Manchester City, who are in outstanding form and have been dominant throughout the season. The upcoming match poses a significant challenge for Chelsea, but they will aim to put up a strong fight and strive for a positive result against the formidable Manchester City side.
