According to Fabrizio Romano, talks between Manchester United and David de Gea over a new contract are "very, very advanced".
De Gea is out of contract at Old Trafford this summer, and recent mistakes against Sevilla and West Ham have fueled speculation that his 11-year spell at the club could be over.
United were linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel earlier this week, while they have also been credited with an interest in David Raya from Brentford.
Coach Erik ten Hag's style requires a strong goalkeeper, and this is an area where De Gea must improve this season.

But equally important is the art of the goalkeeper - and the Spaniard recently won the Premier League Golden Glove award for the 2022/23 season. This milestone is something Ten Hag is keen to point out after De Gea's mistake in the 0-1 loss to West Ham earlier this month.
The Dutchman says (quoted via Daily Mirror):
"Yes [it was a bad mistake], but mistakes are part of football. As a team you have to deal with them and recover. It's a team sport.

"As you said, throughout the season he was the one who kept the most clean sheets. Everyone has to be held accountable."
Now De Gea looks set to sign a new deal.
De Gea signing 'very high end'
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Romano explained:
"They [Manchester United] wanted to reduce his salary, but at the same time, there was a different structure to the contract - maybe a longer contract with a different salary structure - so that was the discussion, but that's very, very progressive now.

“De Gea wants to stay and Manchester United want to keep De Gea, so the idea is to continue together.
"I think Erik ten Hag has been very, very clear on this. These are final terms and it will be over soon."
If De Gea stays with the club beyond this season, he will be the last player left at Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson. The only player left at United, Phil Jones, will be released when his contract ends in June.
