Take their 'Tugyimie' rice but don't vote for them - Mahama told Kumawu voters

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the 2024 general election, John Dramani Mahama, has advised voters in Kumawu Constituency in the Ashanti Region to accept any form of agitation by members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and - rule. and voted against them in Tuesday's local election. The former speaker, who was at the polls to sympathize with the family of the late MP Philip Basoah, who will be buried on Saturday May 20, asked voters to change the way they vote this time.

Kumawu Constituency, shake things up a bit in this local election because they [NPP] have taken you for a long time.May Baso's soul rest in peace. I see his death as a sacrifice for Kumawu constituency. If it passes, it will not be possible for us to see this lift on the roads of Kumawu town, he said.

While campaigning
for the NDCparliamentary candidate, Kwasi Amankwaa, popularly known as Tom Cee in Bodomase near Kumawu, the former presidentreminded voters of their loyalty to the NPP in the election. but did not make any progress. The NDC built the road from here to Drobonso. The road from here to Agogo was also made by the NDC. The water we drink here in Kumawu is brought here bythe NDC. When we distributedhospital services, we thoughtthat the people of Kumawu also needed one, and we brought one here. Unfortunately, when we won the 2016 elections, the NPP government abandoned the project for more than six years now. But because of the upcoming elections, they are not trying to do anything there. If they finish it, good for you, but if they don't finish the job, I want to assure you that the next NDC government will finish it for you, he said happily through 'the crowd.

I have come
to present you Tom Cee [Kwasi Amankwaa, the NDC parliamentary candidatefor Kumawu], as the man elected by the NDC to represent us. Please change the way you vote a little. You havealways voted for the NPP, but every legacy job here and inBodamase has come to you from the NDC. The former president accused the NPP of misleading voters in the region.

The NPP is going door to door to share a cup of 'Tugyimie' [badrice] with you in the constituency just to get your vote. So now the NPP think the value of your vote is a cup of Tugyimie [bad rice]? I am askingyou to bring Tugyimie [[poor quality rice] and cook it and eat it. But on Tuesday, tell them your right to vote can't be used with a cup of rice. Voting day is Tuesday. Please come out in numbers and vote Kwasi Amankwaa without violence.

Kwasi Amankwa is number 2 inthe polls. I am sure that something will happen in Kumawu on Tuesday. We willchange things and change the nuclear power industry, he said.

NPP candidate
Ernest Yaw Anim was number one in the vote; The NDC candidate, Kwasi Amankwaa, is in the second position, while the third and fourth positions are for two independents who are running under the same name, Kwaku Duah. Meanwhile, the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta has denied the allegation that the construction of the Kumawu road is to gainvotes in the upcoming elections.

He said that the public contractfor the construction of Kumawu internal road and other roads in the area was drawn up long before the death of MP Philip Atta Basoah. "Basoah's death is just a coincidence, it is sad and regrettable, but everything will be done to honor his name after his death," the minister told the media after reviewing the progress on the road from Kumawu.

Mr.
Amoako-Atta said that the ongoing project is not limited to Kumawu but also Juaben, Effiduase and Asokore which are not in Kumawu area. "AreJuaben, Effiduase and Asokore part of Kumawu or will they participate in the election of another Kumawu representative?" He refused.

Mr. Amoako-Atta said, "When
the late MP was alive, he visited the Supreme Leader twice to explain to him the plan to startthe project."
