How Ken Agyapong's GH¢200loan helped us build the first two schools in Suame - Kyei-Mensah- Bonsu
The Chief Executive and MP for Suame praised the generous spirit of his fellow lawmaker Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, speaking of his assistance to Suame region when it was in dire straits.
The Chief Executive said how the first two schools built in the Suame area came about thanksto Ken in the form of interest free loans he extended to the area. Speaking at the Ken flagcampaign that ended in Suameat the weekend, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said: “Many peopletestify to the goodness that Ken Agyapong has done and continues to do. do. We, the people of Suame, have benefited from Agyapong's generosity.
He told how Suame got theschool project from the federal government, but the money has not been cut during the hard financial times. The two schools are Nuru Islamic Basic School and Suame Methodist School which has six classes.
Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu recalled selling his car to raise money for the first project when money ran out, and discussed the challenge with Ken, he told the gathering. “He asked how much money was needed, I said 200million at the time but about 20,000 cedis today, the nextmorning Ken called me and promoted us 200 million to be invested in this project.
"I gave my president 100 million to start work, we are happy to receive money for the project of Islam Nuru, so I toldmy president to use it to continue with the Methodist school project. "I returned the first 100 million to Ken and later when other debts came in, I paidhim the other part. Without his help, we would not have been able to complete the block of class 6", he said. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu is currently the Member of Parliament for Suame, being the longest serving Member of Parliament in the House. However, he is supporting the presidential position of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia in the race for the New Patriotic Party.
