Real Madrid have had their midfield in place for almost the past ten years with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. However, age seems to be starting to catch up with the two legends, as was evident in their 4-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City. Thus, Los Blancos need to act quickly and add some more options in the middle of the park.
Real Madrid already have some great future options in Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Fede Valverde. The three of them, along with the potential arrival of Jude Bellingham, and the midfield could be set for the next decade to come.
However, with all of them still being quite young, Los Blancos could do with some veteran midfield presence, in the scenario that Modric and Kroos leave at around the same time. And it looks like a Paris Saint-Germain hero is interested in the idea of a switch to Santiago Bernabeu.
As reported by RMC Sport, Marco Verratti is open to a departure during the next summer transfer window. Real Madrid is one of his priorities, and he has remained very close to Carlo Ancelotti.
PSG appear to be preparing for a lot of changes this summer, having failed to deliver in the Champions League once again. Verratti could be a headline name to head out of the exit door.
It appears that the Italian midfielder would be open to the idea of seeking a new adventure somewhere else. However, Real Madrid are not believed to be keen on signing Verratti and seem to be completely focused on getting a deal for Bellingham over the line.
Verratti joined PSG in 2012 but it looks like his journey at the club is set to come to an end soon. A return to Italy could be a possibility for him. But a move to Real Madrid seems very unlikely.
